“Women Explore Engineering” summer camp opportunity
Currently accepting applications for this summer’s Women Explore Engineering (WEE) summer camp, held July 12-15, 2009 on campus at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. The WEE camp is a 4-day residential summer program designed to give female high school students with an interest in science and/or mathematics an opportunity to explore engineering as a career. Participants stay in modern residence halls, attend special classes, participate in group and panel discussions with female engineers and engineering college students, see engineering activities in progress in state of the art facilities and they get to do a bit of engineering themselves by completing a design project.
Eligible students are currently enrolled in the 10th or 11th grade in high school, have As and Bs in their high school courses and have a strong
interest in a technical career that could include engineering. This program is made possible by Texas A&M Engineering and corporate sponsors. There is, however, a non-refundable program fee of $325 required to cover costs of food, housing and program activities. A limited number of partial scholarships will be available for students who qualify for free or reduced school lunch.
Applications must be postmarked on or before Friday, May 15, 2009. To download application forms or to review additional information, please visit the program web site http://essap.tamu.edu/wee/.
