Richland College, in cooperation with the South Dallas Cultural Center, will host Progress Theatre’s musical “‘MEMBUH: Confessions of The Only Generation” at 8 p.m., Saturday, June 23 at Richland’s Fannin Performance Hall. Tickets are $5.
“MEMBUH” (as in “Remember”) is a musical tale that combines music, storytelling, and spoken word to follow a young family through the highs and lows of rebuilding their family legacy. Colorful, unpredictable stories weave past legacies-like a family legend that rewrites the founding of Juneteenth-with their present day lives as they decide which tales to pass or to leave untold. This musical brings issues of love, prejudice, and history to the stage while celebrating the insights of today’s young adult generation. This event is part of a “Juneteenth Tour,” which is aimed at using performance to raise awareness about Black history all year-around.
Tickets may be purchased by calling 877-3-PT-TOUR (877-378-8687).
